Nature Spirits and Elemental Beings
Dear Friends,
I hope, like me, you’ve been able to soak in some of the glorious sunshine we’ve had over the last couple of days. I’ve had an amazing weekend, connecting with nature and rediscovering my garden, and it brought to mind a few of the books and a rather special CD we’ve recently featured.
On Saturday I walked with Hermes the dog, through a forest springing to life as it welcomed this long awaited warmth, to a beautiful waterfall where crystal clear water cascaded over moss covered boulders. I was immersed in the sounds of the tumbling stream by my side, tiny birds flitting about in the trees above, ravens calling from the crags and bees bumbling and buzzing below. At the foot of the waterfall Hermes began to dash about in pure glee, leaping around the boulders and banks, splashing in every pool he could reach, gathering sticks and tossing them into the air.And I thought, ‘Hello. I know you’re here’.
Who? Well, not one, but many: although I couldn’t see them, I could feel them. I could sense an abundance of creative force, no individual presence, just the energy of life in more forms than I have ever known.
Here I felt at one with the Nature Spirits and Elemental Beings; I understood more of Roc’s experience in his Encounters with Pan; and I knew that everything is connected, because everything is one. As described in GreenSpirit, we are of the Earth rather than on it - we are oflife.
And so, newly invigorated, on Sunday I spent all day outdoors, exploring and tending ‘my’ garden, clearing away the debris of a harsh, hard winter, to make room for life. I cleared the little pond and discovered one handsome frog, who I’m sure is thankful for the room to swim. Now I shall make a start on my new herb and remedy garden, inspired by James Wong and taking some tips fromNew Urban Farmer and Ask Mother Nature, too.
Tonight, I shall sit in the garden and feel life, in the company of a dog, a frog and anyone else who happens along. I’ll meet you there.
With our love and best wishes,
Sarah, Hermes and all at Cygnus
